What Makes Handmade Glass Coral Sea Fan Uncommon

Like a treasure lifted from an enchanted reef, delicate branches of glass seem to sway and shimmer as the light changes around them. Artist Jill Strickland draws inspiration from the intricate architecture of sea fan coral, hand-cutting sections of fusible glass and arranging each one into an airy, organic silhouette. A roughly 24-hour journey through the kiln permanently joins the individual pieces while preserving their open, ocean-inspired form, creating a singular work of art that brings a glimmer of the sea ashore.

Decorative art-glass sculpture reimagines the intricate branching form of natural sea fan coral.
Jill hand-cuts and individually arranges sections of flat fusible glass before kiln-fusing them for approximately 24 hours.
Each finished sculpture is mounted by hand in its freestanding display base.
Translucent glass catches and reflects changing light throughout the day.
Individually designed and arranged, each sculpture features subtle variations that make it one of a kind.

"Coral reefs, crystal-clear waters, marine life, and the natural beauty of the Florida Keys inspire every piece I create," says maker Jill Strickland of her stunning fused glass artworks. Born and raised in Cape Cod surrounded by the ocean, she fell in love with the Florida Keys, eventually moving there with her family, where she draws inspiration daily from her seaside surroundings. Working from her studio in Key Largo, she handcrafts vibrant glasswork that captures the texture and movement of coral reefs. Jill's husband and kids help her out behind the scenes, packing orders, photographing, managing the website and marketing; growing the business together and sharing her art with the world.
