There are two switches on this device with no explanation. The top switch seems to turn it on, but then it stays on. The bottom switch doesn't appear to do anything. Squeezing it doesn't turn it on which is what I need it to do during campouts. I may need to return. Please advise.

The upper switch will turn the flashlight On/Off. The lower switch is used to lock the handle for easier storage. Squeezing the hand crank powers up the batteries so the light is always ready when needed. 2 minutes of squeezing = approx. 3–5 minutes of light. We hope this helps!
