What Makes It Uncommon

Making the perfect soft-, medium-, or hard-boiled eggs is a science. Take them out too early, you’ve got a white, runny, hot mess. Leave them too long, they develop an unappealing greenish ring around the yolks. This musical timer takes the guesswork out of preparing a pot of outstanding oeufs. It floats with your eggs and alerts you with a trio of songs that indicate internal cooking status.

  • Always store the timer in the fridge with your eggs (it fits in the same carton!).
  • Add the cheerful chick to the pot of cold or boiling water when you drop your eggs in.
  • The device plays three musical alarms to indicate the eggs' internal temperature:
      • Farmer in the Dell: soft-boiled eggs
      • Old MacDonald Had a Farm: medium-boiled eggs
      • Turkey in the Straw: hard-boiled eggs
  • No switches or buttons to worry about. The timer remains in standby mode until exposed to cooking temperatures.

Whistling timer

I don't like waiting for a pot to boil so I could set the timer. (We know about watched pots, tight? ) This works like a charm. One reviewer said she wished the whistle was louder. I found it plenty loud enough. I heard it out on my back deck. (The door was open). I'll add that the repetitive tune has me hopping to take care of it instead of postponing a few more minutes to finish something. Catching it at the right moment means no green ring around the yolk! Ps bought another for a friend

I DID Buy this product again. And Again. And Again!

I first bought one of these as a lark because it looked so fun. Then because it was so clever and fun I bought 5 more. Then I bought 6 more. It was the biggest Christmas stocking hit ever! And since we all always screw up in cooking soft boiled eggs properly, this gift was both practical and fun.
