When Marianne Wakerlin founded Solmate in 2000, the lifelong textile artist just wanted to make fun socks in a responsible, eco-friendly way. The company quickly grew out of a small room in her home, and when Marianne retired in 2015, her son, Randy, and daughter-in-law, Lisa, carried on the family tradition. Now, with millions of pairs sold around the world, Solmate also offers cozy hats, scarves, and mittens with the same colorful (and ethical) style.
As a certified B Corp since 2020, the Portland, Oregon-based brand approaches business differently, using sustainably sourced, recycled fibers in everything they make, valuing their employees with living wages and generous benefits, and donating much-needed socks to aid organizations around the country. With only 3% of apparel currently made in the United States, Solmate is proud to manufacture all of their goods at their own mill in Hickory, North Carolina.

Socks to Wear Around the House
I love these colorful crew socks. I wear them around the house to keep my feet warm and from getting the tiny stuff that comes in from the outdoors on my bare feet. I wear them out in the heels (just way my skin is there) so i got a new pair. just recently also got a pair of the National Park socks that are similar. Wash and dry flat.
