What Makes It Uncommon

Five smart and cute monstera leaf–shaped soil monitors tell you when to water each plant.

  • Moisture monitors help you water just the right amount, just when your plant needs it.
  • Insert into each plant's container. The indicator changes from white to green when the soil is wet; as the soil dries, it turns back to white from top to bottom.
  • Especially useful for plants farther back on your shelf whose soil you can't easily reach to feel their moisture levels.
  • Indicators last approximately 2 to 4 months with weekly watering, depending on how wet the soil is, then biodegrade on their own in the plants' soil (or you can remove and compost them).

Care

Place firmly in your houseplant's soil, as far as the soil will allow. Once placed, do not move as the item can tear once it has been exposed to moisture. Water your plant as usual. Indicator biodegrades on its own and will begin to break down after 2-4 months of use, depending on soil wetness. Indicator can also be composted or recycled, or even left to break down in your plant's soil. Replace with a new Color-Changing Plant Moisture indicator once it starts to breakdown.

Notes

The Moisture meter takes about 30+ minutes to turn green if inserted properly in the soil (all the way to the bottom of the leaf, not bent and white side facing outwards.

They work!

Don't seem to be working that well.

They sort of seemed to work at first, but then they faded out in a weird patchy way and certainly don't seem equipped for multiple uses.

Not super impressed

This product rips very easily, and does show whether the plant needs watering or not, I didn't realize that they were biodegradable and would only last a few months. This is a great moisture indicator for plants but I found them to get moldy quickly after use. Still a great idea though.
