What Does History Sound Like?

From the clamor of prize fights to nail-biting closings at the New York Stock Exchange, one brass bell design has accompanied a lot of history. With its arresting ring, this authentic trip gong is modeled after those historic chimes and made by a company with a lot of history of its own: Bevin Brothers Bells. Now led by the sixth generation of the same family, Bevin made the bells that gave Clarence his wings in the classic Capra film It's a Wonderful Life and the signature sounds of Good Humor ice cream trucks. Give this sturdy, wall-mounted gong a strong pull (it takes a little muscle!) to signal dinner time, the start of family meetings, or the departure of the school shuttle. Even when silent, it makes a unique conversation starter and decorative accent infused with industrial history. Made in Connecticut.

Great except chipping on side paint

Would have 5 stars, except when I went to engrave it, the edges had all peeled off. I didn't have time to exchange so luckily my engraver had paint to patch it up. Not sure why that was the case, but would definitely look bad if you hung up on the wall like that.

Big Hit with Dad

For years I had this in my giftlist as a potential gift for my dad, but never bit the bullet and got it until this year. He has always enjoyed boxing and as a child he would let our family know it was time to leave or get ready for an activity by belting out, "Let's get ready to RUMMMble!" in his best Michael Buffer impersonation. It really needs to be mounted before using it properly, but that didn't stop him from scaring the wits out of my mom a few times throughout the day after he opened it. Needless to say, he loved it! #sweepstakes

Great Family Dinner Bell!

This bell is very loud as it is an actual wrestling bell but just be aware if it is put in a small space. It is perfect to get three boys to the dinner table though! Ha! The one small thing that would have made this piece even nicer if it came with the screws to install. We had to try a couple of different lengths to get it right.

Authentic Quality

This bell is the REAL THING. It sounds just like the bell used at a boxing ring or any chance you or MMA fight. It is very heavy and authentic. It appears to be made from solid brass. The hammer mechanism is built solidly and will provide years of enjoyment. I can't wait to see my brother-in-laws face when he receives it.

Pulling the chain will ring the bell, just like a standard vintage boxing bell. Be warned - it will require a bit of muscle so you might want to warm up on the speedbags first!

The Boxing Bell can hang outside, although it is not specifically designed for that purpose. However, after much use over a number of years, it is possible that the nuts and screws may lose their finish, and the rod on which the lever pivots to ring the bell could be exposed to possible rust.
